Ollie Mae Murphy Hitt, age 80, of Cleveland, formerly of Grenada, died Thursday, Nov. 11, at the home of her daughter, Linda Naron. Visitation will be held from noon until service time on Saturday, Nov. 13, at National Funeral Home in Grenada. Funeral services are at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the National Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery in Grenada.
Miss Ollie was born on June 17, 1930, in Yalobusha County to Roscoe and Nonnie Mae Murphy.
She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Grenada. On April 1, 1950, Miss Ollie was married to John Henry Hitt. Mrs. Hitt was employed as a Registered Nurse at Grenada Lake Medical Center for approximately 30 years.
Mrs. Hitt was predeceased by her parents, Roscoe and Nonnie Murphy; her husband, John Henry Hitt; and two brothers, James Willis Murphy and Kenneth Criss Murphy.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Naron and Kathie Boone (Mark), both of Cleveland; one son, retired Master Sergeant John Michael Hitt (Tammy) of Warner Robbins, Georgia; three sisters, Mavis Scott of Columbus, Ga., Ann Powers of Coldwater, Miss., and Katie Vela of Coldwater, formerly of Forest, La.; seven grandchildren, Bill Naron, Jonathon Naron, Chris Potts (Sam), Beth Chamblee (Luke), Keats Baldwin, Ashley Hitt and Lauren Hitt; and four great-grandchildren, Lyndsi Naron, Lanie Naron, Sarah Potts and Burton Potts.
National Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
