Adella Mary Hitchcock
MANCHESTER -- Adella M. Hitchcock, 80, a lifelong resident of Manchester, died Friday Jan. 14, 2005, at her Equinox Terrace residence. She was born in Rutland on Feb. 23, 1924, the daughter of Morton and Isabella (Wood) Parris. She attended Manchester schools and graduated from Burr & Burton Academy.
She was married to Philip Ira Hitchcock. Mr. Hitchcock died in 2002.
The Hitchcocks lived in Manchester. Adella was a hard worker. She worked as a telephone operator and for the Orvis Co. wrapping fly rods. For many years until her retirement she worked as a receptionist at Manchester Health Services. She was a member of the Zion Episcopal Church. She loved children and animals and was active with the Girl Scouts. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan Hitchcock of Tallahassee, Fla. and many loving nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Norma.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held on Saturday Jan. 22 at 1 p.m. at Brewster Funeral Home in Manchester. Reverend John Mitchell pastor of the Zion Episcopal Church will officiate. Her cremated remains will be scattered back into the earth on the family property.
