Funeral services for Elizabeth M. Bohls, 92, were held Monday, Nov. 6, 2000 at 10 a.m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with Rev. Brian Bauer of Peace Lutheran Church, Rockdale officiating. Graveside service followed at 3 p.m. at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston. She died Thursday, Nov. 2 at Richards Memorial Hospital in Rockdale.
Mrs. Bohls was born Nov. 24, 1907 in the Salty Community near Rockdale to Joe Hirt and Bertha Tschoertner. Formerly of Houston she had lived the past 23 years in Rockdale. She and R. D. Bohls were married Oct. 15, 1950 in Houston.
Mrs. Bohls was an office clerk with Sakowitz Department Store in Houston for a number of years. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Rockdale.
Preceding her in death were her husband, R. D. Bohls; son, Lester Hirt, July 23, 1995; two sisters, Lillie Felfe and Josie Scott; two brothers, Nolan and Lonnie Hirt.
Surviving are: Daughter-in-law Judy Hirt of Rockdale; grandchildren Jimmy Hirt, Seth Douglas Hirt and Jan Jones; sisters Margaret Doss of Rockdale and Eleanor Caldwell of Fairfield; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchilren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were Doug Hirt, Jim Hirt, Troy Hirt, Clay Hirt, Drew Hirt, C.J. Hirt, Justin Jones, Bo Jones.
