Spirit Lake – Services for Mrs. W.J. (Vera) Hipple, 85, of Spirit Lake and formerly of Estherville, are pending at Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Home in Estherville. She died Wednesday at Hilltop Care Center at Spirit Lake. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 6, 1995)
Estherville – Services for Vera Hipple, 85, of Spirit Lake and Formerly of Estherville will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Henry-Olson-Fuhrman Funeral Chapel in Estherville with the Rev. Larry Willey of the United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Estherville. She died Wednesday, April 5, 1995 at Hilltop Care Center in Spirit Lake.
She was born Oct. 20, 1909 at Modoc, Kans., the daughter to Arthur and Allie (Norman) Hotelling and attended Rock Valley schools graduating from Estherville High School in 1927. She then attended Estherville Junior College graduating in 1929. On August 31, 1929 she married Wesley J. Hipple at Spirit Lake. Following their marriage the couple owned and operated the Phillips 66 Station and tourist cabins from 1931-1948. The couple retired and moved to Spirit Lake in 1978. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and Eastern Star of Estherville; also a member of various bridge clubs.
Survivors include three daughters: Mrs. Dan (Joanne) Georgeff, ofStorm Lake; Mrs. Gene (Virgie) Wendland of Lakeland, Minn. and Mrs. James (Marlys) Swanson of Lakefield, Minn.; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband who died Dec. 21, 1990 and one sister. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 8, 1995)
