She was born in Greenwood, N.C. on September 1, 1911. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Clifton R. Berrier Sr., and by her parents, Rev. Robert E. and Cassie Lewis Hinshaw. Juanita was 98 years old and had lived longer than her two brothers, Howard and Harold Hinshaw, and a sister, Vivian Hinshaw Bostic.
She is survived by another sister, Carolyn Hinshaw Logan Beeson, and two children, son Clifton R. Berrier Jr., of Greensboro; and daughter Barbara B. Webb of Fayetteville, NC. She also has four grandchildren; Melissa Webb Jurgens, George Webb, Selena Berrier Childs, and Mary Ruth Harris; two step-grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.
Juanita's father was minister of Hinshaw Memorial Methodist Church, for whom the church was named. She was a graduate of Davenport College which is now Greensboro College. She taught in Alexander County for two years. She has been a member of College Place United Methodist Church since 1941, and was a member of the former Ralls Class and was active in her UMW circle. She had lived at Friends Homes Guilford for many years and enjoyed playing "Upward" and "Rummikub" with her friends there.
Juanita will surely be missed by all who knew her and especially by her family. She will be a hard act to follow. The family is very grateful to the staff of Hospice and Friends Homes for their compassionate understanding and guidance throughout Juanita's last weeks.
