Doryce, 93, of Okemos, moved to a peaceful new home to be with her husband, Robert Hinman on December 28, 2011.
She graduated from Lansing Central in 1935 and from MSC in 1939, Magna Cum Laude and a member of Phi Kappa Phi. She studied fashion illustration at Traphagen School of Fashion in New York City in 1941.
Doryce married Robert in 1942 and lived in Lansing before moving to Okemos in 1951. She has always loved the house her husband built for them to live in. Doryce was a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church in Okemos. Doryce has had a lifelong love of house plants and credits the hundreds of plants she had in their home with the long, healthy life of her husband and herself.
She also had a love of creating art. The many sculptures and paintings in her home bear witness to her talents.
She was preceded in death by her husband Robert of 67 years; father, Ed; mother, Claire; brothers, Ed and Rob; daughter, Marsha; and her granddaughter, Jennifer.
Doryce is survived by her four children, Pam (Keith) Seales, Rhonda Howe, Bruce Hinman, Ross (Kathy) Hinman; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Jane Southwell.
The family thanks the Hospice of Lansing Stoneleigh Residence for the love and friendship they showed, caring for their mother at the end of her life.
Funeral services were held Friday, January 6, 2012, at Faith Lutheran Church, Okemos, MI.
