Birth: 1813
Ohio, USA
Death: unknown

Census records list him as "Jackson Hinman." His full name, Andrew Jackson Hinman, comes from the Biography of Clinton T. Brown in "History of Tipton County, Indiana: her people, industries and institutions" by By Marvin W. Pershing. Clinton married Cora Land, daughter of George W. Land and Lydia Hinman. It mentions that her maternal grandfather was "Andrew Jackson Hinman." Census records show that Lydia was sister to Joseph F. Hinman and Pheba Jane Hinman Riley Brown.

Jackson appears to have died by 1860 as his children are living in other households in Switzerland Co, IN census records and he can't be found. Apparently his wife Patience died before 1857 as he married Mrs. Lucy Holdcraft in 1857 in Ohio County, IN, who was previously married to Richard Holdcraft. So far their burial place has not been identified. Also noted that there isn't a Civil War record for Andrew.

Pheba Jane Hinman was first married to John W. Riley. The marriage record for her 2nd marriage to Hiram Brown in 1909 lists her parents as "Jackson Hinman and Patience Bascom." Her death records lists her father as Jackson Hinman. An 1896 Veteran's Home record for Joseph F. Hinman states that his nearest relatives are his wife, Mary, in Indianapolis and Jane Riley of Cincinnati, OH. Phoebe Jane and her husband were living there on the 1900 census. A 1915 Kokomo Tribune newspaper article makes reference to Cora Brown, Lydia Hinman Land's daughter. It states that she received word that her uncle Joseph of Indianapolis was found dead in his bed. Joseph F. Hinman died in 1915 in Indianapolis.
