Died aged 74 years, so born between September 8, 1824 and September 27, 1825. It is not clear whether the initials "M. J." stand for her name or her husbands name.
"MRS. M. J. HINES DEAD.: She Was 74 Years Old and Had Been in Bad Health Some Time. // Mrs. M. J. HINES died at the residence of her son-in-law, Mr. C[harles] M. D. SIMPSON, at No. 12 Seventeenth street at 10:10 o'clock yesterday morning, after an illness of about three weeks. Although she had been in bad health for a number of years, her condition did not become serious until about three weeks ago. The deceased was 74 years of age, and was a member of Broad Street Methodist church. She is survived by two sons, Mr. George W. HINES, of West Point, and Mr. J. W. HINES, of Griffin, and two daughters, Mrs. C. M. D. SIMPSON and Miss Elizabeth HINES of this city, as well as a number of other relatives, who have the heartfelt sympathy of many friends in their sad loss. The funeral will take place at 9 o'clock this morning from the house. Rev. J. W. SIMMONS will officiate. Th[e] interment will be at Clapp's Factory burying ground."
