Margaret, my 3rd great-grandmother, was the daughter of William I. Caskey (1760-1818) and Christina Smith (1765-1833).
William and Christina had seven other children: Jane (1780-, Robert Durland (1782-1868), Christopher (1786-1849), William (1787-1870), John (1791-1850), Elizabeth (1794-1881), and Samuel (1806-1890).
Margaret married Samuel Hilts (1787-1870) on Nov. 4, 1809 in Mount Olive, NJ.
They had six children: John (1810-), Mary (1811-1826), my 2nd great-grandfather William Caskey (1814-1885), Jane (1817-1877), Sarah W. (1820-1889), and Margaret (1823-1869).
They lived in what is now 107 Mooney Rd. in Ledgewood, NJ. The house, located on 195 acres of land, was built about 1830 by William I. Caskey, Margaret's father. The farm passed on to Hiram King (I'm not oo sure of the relationship betweem them) from whom Willam Frank and Sarah Mooney purchased it in 1904. The house and farm remained in the Mooney family for 57 years during which time the house was enlarged.
She was a member of The Mount Olive Baptist Church for over thirty years.
It is said that her last words spoken were: "A few more days. A few more days at most, and we shall reach fair Canaan's coast, where in that holy, happy land, we'll clasp anew the immortal hand".
