Obituary for Pearl Caldwell from Utah Newspaper
Pearl Caldwell, age 86, died Saturday, October 19, 2002, at home in South Jordan, Utah.
Pearl was born August 12, 1916 to Robert Lee Hillyard and Mina Ethel (Allen) Hillyard. She graduated from Nampa High School in 1934 and attended Cosmetology school. On October 31, 1936 Pearl married Walt Caldwell. They were life-long partners. Walt preceded Pearl in death on May 2, 1995.
Pearl and Walt moved from Nampa in 1945 to Buhl, Idaho where they managed and then owned The Sports Shop. Together they operated this business for 20 years. Pearl was a busy mother of three. Besides her family responsibilities, she loved crocheting, painting, fishing,gardening and collecting. Her collections included rocks, bottles, cobalt glass, plates, bells and family heirlooms.
In their retirement years, Pearl spent many, many happy hours with Walt fishing, hunting for collectibles, putting together jig-saw puzzles,, working on many crafts together and taking day trips through the country side.
Pearl and Walt moved to South Jordan, Utah in 1993 to live with their daughter and son-in-law.
Pearl is survived by her son, Dean Caldwell of Heron, Montana; her daughters, Dian Hill of Taylorsville, Utah;and Tanya Edson of South Jordan, Utah. eight grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren;and three great-great grandchildren.
A family memorial and celebration of Pearl's wonderful full life was held November 2, 2002 at her home in South Jordan, Utah.
We, Pearl's family shall deeply miss our beloved mother, grandmother,great-grandmother, great-great grandmother and friend.
