Artie Aheart Hillis, 80, of Williamsville died Feb. 4, 2009, at his residence.
He was born March 7, 1928, in Poplar Bluff Mo. son of the late Pearl Thomas and Mary Ethel Strange Hillis.
He was a self-employed owner of a sawmill and had attended the Bible Full Gospel Church in Williamsville. He loved to work on trucks and to hunt and fish.
On May 8, 1946, he was married to Julie Mae Gilbreath and she survives.
Survivors include his three sons, James (Joan) Hillis, Bobby (Tina) Hillis, Billy (Tracy) Hillis, adopted son, Timothy (Rebecca) McFadden, all of Williamsville; one daughter, Erma (fiance Roy Luke) Bratton of Williamsville; one brother, Wilbert (Linda) Hillis; one sister, Jewel Rainwater, both of Williamsville; 18 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchild.
Preceding him in death were one son, Artie Ivan Hillis; one daughter, Evelyn Mae Wood; seven brothers, Eddie, Raymond, George, Alfred, Tommy, Carl and William Hillis; one grandchild, James Lee Wood; and one great-great-grandchild, Wyatt Lee Beard.
The funeral was held Feb. 7, 2009, at the Assembly of God Church in Williamsville with the Rev. Eugene Abrams and the Rev. James Calvin officiating. Music was provided by Jeanette Cox. Pallbearers were Jason Bratton, Joshua Bratton, Chad Bratton, Wesley Bratton, Bobby Hillis Jr., Alan Hillis, Lee Hillis, Ryan Hillis, Kyle Wood, Derek Hillis, Junior Wood and Harold Kelsoe. Burial was in Holiday Cemetery, Williamsville, Mo.
