Gary Bryan Hillis, 66, formerly of Canalou, died April 7, 2008, at his home in St. Louis. He was born April 7, 1942, in Canalou, to the late William Bryan and Frieda Inez Hewitt Hillis.
He served as an SR in the U.S. Navy.
He worked for Ford Motor Co. in St. Louis and was also a self-employed barber.
Survivors include one daughter, Cyretha Newell of Gray Ridge; one brother, Terry Hillis of Huntsville, AL; one sister, Trina Strickland of Fort Meyers, FL; two grandchildren; and his former wife, Faye Etta Tharp Spencer of Canalou, MO.
Visitation will be Tuesday at the Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston, MO. Graveside services, with full military honors provided by the Navy Military Honor Guard, are Tuesday at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, with the Rev. Glenn Rogers officiating.
