Obituary of Mrs. John E. Allen
Virginia Arabell Hill, was born August 4, 1867 in Wayne County, Ill., and passed away April 27, 1943 at her home in Logan, Kansas, at the age of 75 years, 8 months and 23 days. When a small child her parents moved to Kansas. She was united in marriage to John E. Allen on January 14, 1886.
Her early life was spent on the farm which they homesteaded in Beaver township and where their family was raised. Her beloved husband passed on February 21, 1928. To this union seven children were born, four boys and three girls. They are Mrs. Lulu Woltman, Edgar Allen and Wayne Allen all of Prairie View, Mrs. Edith Laughlin and John Allen of Norton, Kansas, Ralph Allen of Densmore, Kansas, and Mrs. Argie Sides of Logan.
Besides these children she leaves to mourn her passing twenty-three grandchildren; four great grandchildren.
Two of her grandsons are in the armed forces; Tech. Sargeant Vernon Allen, North Africa, and Pvt. Max Allen, Los Angeles, California.
On December 21, 1927 she acknowledged the need of a Savior and when she moved to Logan she became a member of the Methodist Church to which she has been very faithful.
Services were held from the Logan Methodist Church Thursday, April 29, at 2 p.m., conducted by Rev. Lawrence Carlton and Rev. Sherman Archer.
Interment was made in the Logan cemetery.
