Frankie Marie Farrington, 81 of Chanute, Kansas, passed away February 13, 2005 while undergoing treatment at the Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita, Kansas.

Frankie was born on July 21, 1923 in McAlester, Oklahoma, the daughter of Frank M. and Alma Hill. She was the second daughter in the family and named after her father.

Frankie was raised in Chetopa, KS. She attended schools in Chetopa, graduating from Chetopa High School.

She met Donald G. Farrington, her husband of 59 years while in grade school. They were united in marriage on October 13, 1945 after his return from WWII and settled in Oswego, KS. He preceded her in death on November 20, 2004.

During the war she worked for McDonnell-Douglas working on bombers installing auto pilots. She worked at the First National Bank of Oswego for ten years until moving to Chanute in 1974. She did a lot of volunteer work while living in Chanute.

She enjoyed spending time with her friends, sending cards and taking food when necessary. She enjoyed taking care of people.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

She is survived by two sons, Don A. Farrington of Libertyville, IL, and Kipley E. Farrington, of Overland Park, KS; two sisters, Naomi Lankford of Chrisfield, MD, and Blanche Kidd of Littleton, CO; one brother James Hill of Owasso, OK; a sister-in-law, Marilyn Noble of Pittsburg, KS; six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Don.

Services will be February 16, 2005 at the First United Methodist Church, with Reverend Larry E. Myers officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Chanute, Kansas.

Memorials in her name may be made to The First United Methodist Church and may be left with the funeral home.

Penwell-Gabel Gibson Chapel, Chanute, KS, is in charge of arrangements.
