Linda Jean Hill, 63, of Ottumwa, died October 12, 2010 at the home of her daughter in Iowa City under the care of Iowa City Hospice.

She was born July 29, 1947, in Ottumwa to Floyd John and Arlene Barton Hoffman. She married her high school sweetheart, David Lee Hill, June 21, 1966. He preceded her in death Jan. 24, 2010.

A resident of Ottumwa all of her life, she was a 1965 graduate of Ottumwa High School, and earned a nursing degree from Indian Hills Community College. She was a staff RN at Ottumwa Regional Health Center for 16 years and Hospice of Wapello and Davis Counties for 4 years. Linda truly loved being a nurse and helping others. She was a dedicated advocate for the mentally ill.

She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her children and grandchildren were the joy of her life.

Surviving are two daughters, Lisa (Ed) Black of Ottumwa and Sara (Matt) Krieger of Iowa City; 6 grandchildren, Kayla Black, Christy (Colten) Taylor, Jessi Black and Megan Black all of Ottumwa, Ethan and Isabella Krieger of Iowa City; a great granddaughter, Cayden Taylor.

She was preceded in death by an infant son, Scott Allen Hill.

Please join the family for a celebration of her life at 1 p.m. Thursday at Reece Funeral Home in Ottumwa with Rev. Sue Palmer officiating. Cremation will follow the services. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
