PEORIA, IL - Bonnie Jean Hill, 68, of Peoria passed away at 3:25 p.m. Friday, May 29, 2009, at her home.
Bonnie was born May 2, 1941, in Canton, Ill., to Thomas Jiggs and Arlene (Feldner) Murphy. She married Bill Hill on July 25, 1980, at Jubilee College State Park. He survives.
Also surviving are one son, Mitchell M. Blackaby of Peoria; one daughter, Monti Kathline (Rob) Currier of Dunlap; four grandchildren, her beloved Conner William Currier, Carsyn Jean Currier, T.J. Blackaby and Andrew Mitchell Blackaby; one brother, Thomas W. (Dee) Murphy of Canton; one sister, Suzanne (Mike) Stenger of Monmouth; plus several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one infant brother, Larry Dean; and one sister, Mary Anne Gover.
Bonnie graduated from Canton Senior High School, where she was homecoming queen. After high school, she competed in several beauty pageants, being named Miss Fulton County and Miss Heart of Illinois among others. As Miss Heart of Illinois, she represented our area in the Miss Illinois Contest, finishing runner-up.
Bonnie worked as a secretary, mainly at Keystone Steel and Wire Company and Limestone Community High School.
Her life was devoted to her family and spoiling her grandchildren. She enjoyed and seldom missed watching them compete in sports and dance. She was a very caring and loving mother and grandmother.
Her family would like to thank Dr. Jujjavarapu and all the staff at Illinois Cancer Care as well as Jan and the rest of the staff at OSF Hospice for their wonderful care of Bonnie.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 4, 2009, at Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel. The Rev. Jack Thompson will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the chapel. Burial will be in Kingston Mines Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Dunlap High School Athletic Department.
