LAYTON--A loving and gracious woman left the earth today, Monday, August 23, 1999. She was surrounded by her loving family as she went to rejoin her devoted husband and cherished family members who had gone on before her.
Ramona Flint Hill was born in Kaysville, Utah to Joseph Melvin and Cora Pearl Flint Hill, on August 19, 1913. She was reared and educated in Kaysville. She graduated from Davis High School. Ramona then went on to further her education by obtaining a degree from Utah State University in 1938. She met the man she would marry a year later. Clyde Hyrum Gailey and Ramona were sealed for Time and Eternity in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on May 22, 1942. Clyde passed away on February 1, 1997.She had been a member of the Kaysville First Ward, moving into the Valley View Third Ward, 10 years ago. In her younger days, she held various church positions.
Ramona taught Kindergarten and 1st Grade at Layton Elementary until a devastating accident cut short her teaching career. Later in life, she would go on to substitute teach when she was needed.
In 1953, and again in 1960, we two very lucky girls were blessed to be adopted by Ramona and Clyde. We would never feel "adopted", as Mother showered us with all her love. We were truly blessed as her daughters.
Mother was quite the social butterfly, belonging to various groups such as the Daughters of Utah Pioneers, American Association of University Women, Rotary Anns and Athena Group.
Mother was not one to complain. Regardless of how she felt, she would always have a smile, inquire as to how you were, and ask if you'd like a cookie.
Ramona is survived by her two daughters, Karen (Layne) Williams, Layton, Utah; and Deniece (Craig) Adams, Riverdale, Utah; her brothers, Richard Hill, Kaysville, Utah; Joe (Judy) Hill, Kaysville, Utah; and Jack Hill, Farmington, Utah. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde, her parents, and her brothers, Dale, Layton and Rex Hill, and sisters, LaRee Stoker and Carol Dean Page.
Funeral services will be held Friday, August 27, 1999 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist's Kaysville Mortuary, 400 No. Main, where friends and family may call on Thursday from 6-8 p.m. and on Friday from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
