Betty Lou Pickering was born Nov. 7, 1926 in Golden City, Mo., the daughter of Victor Pickering and Mildred (Largent) Pickering. She married Edgar L. Hill on May 14, 1946 in Girard, Kan.; he preceded her in death on March 31, 1996.
She was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church, Carthage.
Survivors include two daughters; Sue (Kenneth) Swindle, Sarcoxie, Mo., and Barbara (Jay) Thompson, Louisville, Tenn.; two sisters: Bonnie Bowles, Springfield, Mo., and Peggy Back, Houston, Texas; one brother; Stanley (Margaret ) Pickering, Baxter Springs, Kan.; four grandchildren; Kevin (Kathy) Swindle, Carthage, Keith (Kim) Swindle, Carthage, Sarah (Phillip) Herron, Maryville, Tenn., and Laura Lee Thompson, Knoxville, Tenn.; seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Naomi Waddle and five brothers, Victor, Howard, Harold, Glenn and Dean Pickering.
Visitation will be held from 6–7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 28 at Knell Mortuary, Carthage. Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 29 at Dudenville Cemetery, Dudenville, Mo. Rev. James Lee will officiate.
