On June 23, 1908, in Kennebunkport, Maine, 23 yr. old Alice Rowland Stanton married 33 yr. old Hamilton Hill, b. Aug. 7, 1874 . She was born in Brooklyn and was still living there at the time of her marriage. Hamilton, an agent by profession, was born in Brookline, Norfolk Co. and was living in Boston, Mass. at the time of their marriage. It was a first marriage for both.
According to the marriage records, Alice was the daughter of George Albert (deceased) and Caroline Rowland (Lynes) (Carew?) Stanton. Both parents were b. in Brooklyn, NY.
Hamilton was the son of Hamilton Andrews (b. in London, England) and Anna Frances (Oersul) Hill, b. in Boston, Mass.
In the 1910 census, Alice and Hamilton were living in Boston Massachusetts.
In the 1920 census, Alice and Hamilton were living in Lakewood, Ocean Co., New Jersey. Hamilton was working at a hotel (as a barber?), and they had two children, 6 yr. old Caroline M., b. in Mass. and 3 yr. old Barbara, b. in New Jersey.
By the Apr. 16, 1930 census, Alice and Hamilton were still married, but living separately. She was Head of the household, living on Page Dr. in Pasadena, L.A. Co., Ca., with her four children:
1) Stanton H., age 19
2) Alice R., age 18
3) Caroline M, age 16
4) Barbara, age 13
55 yr. old Hamilton was living in Pasadena at the YMCA on Holly St. and had no occupation. He died Oct. 17, 1940 in Orange County, Ca.

HILL – Alice Stanton Hill passed away May 27, 1961.
She is survived by her son, H. Stanton Hill of Pasadena; daughters Alice Cowie, Perris Calif. and Barbara Martin, Visalia, Calif.; sisters, Mabel Stanton and Mrs. Sidney R. Kennedy, both of Litchfield, Conn.; also eight grandchildren. Funeral services will be private. Mountain View Mortuary, 2400 N. Fair Oaks Ave., Altadena, directors.
