George W. Hill Jr., 82, of Jersey Shore, died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014, at his home.
Born May 19, 1931, in Jersey Shore, he was a son to the late George W. Sr. and Tessie I. (Eckenstine) Hill. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert E. Swartz.
George was a member of Agape Fellowship of the Mennonite Church. He was a farmer all his life. George enjoyed hunting, cooking, puzzles, having coffee at Cohicks and spending time with his family.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara E. (Edwards) Hill, who were united in marriage on Oct. 15, 1961; three children, Tammy L. (Mark) Deitrick, of Jersey Shore, Marylee (Daryl) Landis, of Milton, and Merrill G. Hill, of Ganado, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014, at Frederick B. Welker Funeral Home, 125 N. Main St., Jersey Shore. Burial will follow at Jersey Shore Cemetery. Visitation will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014, and 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014 at Welker Funeral Home.
