Charlene was born on October 30, 1932 in Effingham, IL, the daughter of Noah "Ott" and Eva (Davis) McClure.

Charlene's life centered on her love of family. She enjoyed cooking meals for family gatherings. She relaxed by bluegill fishing and playing golf. In her early years, she worked as a switchboard operator for the telephone company in Effingham; worked with her husband Jack at Crossroads Realty; and later retired as a secretary for Siemer Milling Co. in Teutopolis. She taught her children and grandchildren the art of bluegill fishing. Of course, she did all the running around keeping lines straight and taking fish off the hooks; the grandchildren wore wide smiles on their faces with each big catch.

Charlene is survived by her sons, Paul F. Taylor Jr. of Morehead, KY and John (Christy) Taylor of Effingham; brother, Max McClure; 7 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jack; sister Jackie, and brothers Godfrey, Sid, Gerald, Bruce, and Clifford.
