JOHN P. HIGGINS

John P. Higgins, 54, of 3883 Turtle Creek, who had served as assistant regional counsel, tax court division in the Dallas office of the Internal Revenue Service since 1965, died here Sunday. A native of Kansas City, Kan., Higgins had lived in Dallas eight years.

A graduate of the University of Michigan Law School, Higgins was associated with the IRS office in Oklahoma City from 1947 to 1961. From there he moved to New Orleans where he was regional counsel in charge of that office until moving to Dallas.

He was a member of the Holy Trinity Church.

Survivors include his wife, Madie, and two brothers.

Requiem Mass will be celebrated at noon Tuesday in the Holy Trinity Church. A vigil service will be held at 8 p.m. Monday in Sparkman-Hillcrest Funeral Chapel, 7405 W. Northwest Highway. Burial will be in Restland Memorial Park.
