Daris Arquilla Akers age 78 of Sale Creek passed away Wednesday, November 25, 2015 in Chattanooga. She was born in Lafayette, GA on June 20, 1937 the daughter of the late Willie and Robbie (Poole) Higdon. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Ruby Scott.
Daris lived most of her life in Sale Creek and retired after many years as supervisor for Dri-set and Signal Knitting Mills. She was a long time member of the Sale Creek Church of God.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, William "Jack" Akers of Sale Creek, her daughter, Robbie Akers of Chattanooga, her son, Cleet (Kim) Akers of Birchwood, grandson, Jack Ryan Akers of Birchwood, nine brothers and sisters, Kathy (Lonnie) Jordan of Sale Creek, Willie Bell Walker of Soddy Daisy, Alice Rievley of Soddy Daisy, Billie (Walter) Jordan of Sale Creek, Dean Higdon of Soddy Daisy, Stanley (Karen) Higdon of Sale Creek, Johnny (Debbie) Higdon of Sale Creek, Danny (Chasity) Higdon of Sale Creek and Eddie (Pam) Higdon of Graysville.
Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday morning, November 28, 2015 at 11:00am in Rhea Memory Gardens with her pastor, Rev. Terry Bolton officiating.
