A Loving mother, wife, daughter, grandmother and sister. Melba Jean Boyd was born January 19, 1938 in Seminole, OK to Bernice and Melvin Hicks. At the age of 13 she moved to Tucson, Arizona where she later graduated from Tucson High School. After receiving a Home Economics Scholarship she attended the University of Arizona. After meeting and marrying Frank Boyd, who was in the U.S Air Force, she began life as a military wife. This led to their relocation to Travis AFB in Fairfield, Ca. where their eldest child was born. Two years later she returned to Arizona for the birth of her eldest son. After transferring to Toul-Rosieres AFB, France her youngest son was born. Upon returning to the States she lived on various Air Force bases in Las Vegas and Phoenix before settling in Sacramento, Ca for the past 26 years. Her work history ranged from working in various levels in government, teacher's aid at the Indian High School in Arizona as well as Real Estate Agent. She also attended the University of California at Davis, Ca as a Design Major and was a Docent with the Crocker Art Museum. She later completed courses in advanced office technology. She led a full life with a continuous thirst for knowledge and without hesitation would share that knowledge with you. She never met anyone who was not a friend and would always give a lending hand to anyone in need. She would put every-one's needs before her own. She is truly loved and missed by all. She leaves to cherish her memory: her children, parents, grandchildren, ex-husband, nieces, nephews, Aunts, Uncles and loving relatives and friends.
