Leola Mae Hicks Beasley's life expired on Thursday, January 23, 1997 at the Magnolia City Hospital, after a lengthy illness.
She was born on April 11, 1915 to the late Rev. J.E. and Martha A. Hicks. She was the seventh of eight children.
She united with the Mt. Vernon A.M.E. Church at an early age and served as a faithful member. She later united with Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, when she married John Beasley, and ser4ed there until after his death. Then, she returned to Mt. Vernon A.M.E. and served diligently until her health began to fail.
She was married to, Levan Joshua. To this union, no children were born. Sbe married Roy Sumler and to this union, two children were born. Later, she married John Beasley and to this union, four children were born.
She leaves to cherish her memory: five sons, James Bazzelle, Jr., Edward Sumler and John L. Beasley of Detroit, Michigan, Amos Beasley, of Mt. Holly, AR and Len Atkins of Milwaukee, Wi; thee daughters, Jimmie Greening of Stephens, AR, Minnie Washington and Linnie Beasley of Dallas, 7X; twenty three grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; and a host of niece; nephews, cousins and friends.
