She attended Jackson State College in Jackson, MS, receiving a teaching certificate. She came to Detroit, MI in 1946. She was retired from the health care industry and enjoying the fruits of a life well lived.
She was wed in holy matrimony in December, 1973 to LeeRoy Hicks. Although she did not have any children she had a heart filled with gold and much love and a playful spirit that attracted children. She embraced them as her own and many of her nieces and nephews considered her a second mother.
She departed this life on Sunday, July 21, 1991 at her home at 5643 N. Campbell, Detroit. MI.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband, LeeRoy Hicks; five sisters, Lula Brown, Wardean Carter, Deziree Wheeler, Catherine Hall, Clara Wilson; a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, other relatives and friends.
