The dates seem to be off slightly on the stone. Caswell was son of Richard Hicks and Minerva Norman Hicks. He married Amy "Anie" Diannah Isbill.

Mr. Hicks was part of a group of gentlemen headed by a Mr. Divine ordered to arrest Enos Hunt. Hunt and his father ended up opening fire on the group and killed Caswell.
