She was born in Chesnee, S.C. to Roscoe F. and Carlie Smith Hicks.
She attended Asheville Business College and retired as telephone operator from BellSouth. She was formerly employed by Hardees and started Shelby Answering Service.
She was a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
