Mary Hicks, 1928-2007

Funeral services for Mary L. (Penrod) Hicks, 78, of Butler, Pa., were held Saturday, Jan. 20 at Clinkingbeard Funeral Home in Gainesville with Rev. Mike Dillin officiating. Burial was in Howards Ridge Cemetery.

Mrs. Hicks died Jan. 14, 2007, at her home. She was born May 2, 1928, in Concan, Texas, the daughter of Adam and Clara (Penrod) Penrod. She and Stillman Jay Hicks were married Oct. 30, 1945.

She was a homemaker and of the Protestant faith.

Mrs. Hicks is survived by two daughters, Donna Louise Wood of Butler, Pa., and Vera Diane Hicks of Slippery Rock, Pa.; five sons, Richard Jay Hicks of Spring City, Pa., Robert Michael Hicks of Prospect, Pa., Ronald David Hicks of Florida, Edward Paul Hicks of Sarver, Pa., and Thomas Nelson Hicks of Grove City, Pa.; 17 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Stillman Jay Hicks in 1989; her parents; and one sister, Alma (Buzz) Yoshida.
