Beloved mother, grandmother, and friend passed away on March 13, 2009 at her home in Hurricane, Utah with her daughter and son-in-law at her side.
Lois was born April 29, 1914 in Heber City, UT to Thomas Warren and Lula Moulton Hicken.
She graduated from Wasatch High School, and on June 29, 1936, she married Merrill Young Duke. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on March 16, 1944.
Lois served faithfully in many capacities in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She and her husband Merrill were officiators in the Provo Temple. They spent many years living in Sunnyside, UT, retirement years in Spanish Fork, UT and after Merrill's passing Lois moved to Hurricane, UT.
She was known for her handwork including hundreds of beautiful temple aprons. She was devoted to her family. Lois loved the many family gatherings, time spent outdoors hunting, fishing and camping.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband; parents, Thomas and Lula Hicken; one sister, Zelma Hicken and two brothers, Thomas Karl (Elsie) and Bert M. Hicken. Lois is survived by her four children: Dale Y. (Claranne) (Jean, deceased), Luana Casper (Darwin), Warren George (Nancy) and Brent M. (Linda).
Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 20, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at the L.D.S. Chapel, 1178 South 700 West, Hurricane, UT. Viewing preceding the Funeral at 11:30 a.m. - 12:45 p.m. for family and friends.
Graveside Services will be held at the Heber City Cemetery on Saturday, March 21, 2009 at 1:00 p.m.
