Musician, actor. He was a founding member of British acapella band "The Flying Pickets", who had an international number one hit with a cover of the Yazoo song "Only You" at Christmas 1983. They went on to have a string of hits in Europe and Australia, touring the world several times. In 1986 he left the band to pursue his original career of acting and became a familiar face in popular British television dramas such as "The Bill", "Dr. Who", "Emmerdale Farm", "Eastenders" and most famously "Coronation Street", where he played the character of Doug the mechanic, one of Deirdre Barlow's many love interests. He was a major player in Welsh television and theater, appearing in many stage productions, a role on the Welsh soap opera "Pobol Y Cwm" and in the award winning movies "Twin Town" and "Little White Lies", for which he won a BAFTA award for Best Actor. He was also well known for his life long support of charitable causes such as children's welfare charities and better working conditions for coal miners.
Cremated, Ashes given to family or friend.
