Wilda Maxine Argo, 91, of Albia, formerly of Moravia, died Sept. 14, 2009, at Oakwood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Albia. She was born Jan. 13, 1918, in Monroe County to Vess H. and Nellie F. (Jones) Hiatt. She attended school and graduated from Moravia High School. Wilda taught country school in Mahaska County for three years before she married Guy W. Argo on Dec. 7, 1940, in Oskaloosa. After Wilda and Guy married, she was a homemaker. Wilda was very active all her life. She was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church of Moravia, past secretary for the Ruritan Club, member of the Order of The Eastern Star, Taylor Aid and Moravia Booster Club. Wilda enjoyed playing cards in the ETC Club and volunteered her time as a 4-H leader. Wilda also enjoyed watching sporting events, working outdoors in her gardens, canning and freezing the things out of her garden. She was a talented quilter; she loved to quilt and made quilts for all the family members. Survivors include her children, Charles Argo and his wife, Jean, of Oskaloosa, Sharon Mulhall and her husband, Pat, of Las Vegas, Nev., Nellie Coltrain of Albia, Jim Argo and his wife, Jane, of Princeton, Ill., Max Argo and his wife, Patty, of Atlantic, Gary Argo and his wife, Cindy, of Belle Plaine, Donald Argo and his wife, Dee Ann, of Norwalk, and Rex Argo and his wife Lori of Moravia; 19 grandchildren, Karen Hartl, Eric Argo, Mark Sanchez, Michelle Morgan, Sherri Selvy, Susan Horan, Ellen Martin, Carie Hauser, Matt Argo, Clint Argo, Heather Fisher, Michael Argo, Jennifer Argo-Tungar, Brad Argo, Kaylee Argo, Ashley Argo, Kelly Argo, Diane Argo and David Argo; two stepgrandchildren, Brian Mulhall and Glen Mulhall; and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Vess and Nellie; her husband, Guy W. and one brother, Dwight Hiatt.Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Grace United Methodist Church in Moravia; the Rev. Gene Kubli officiating. Burial will follow services at Hillcrest Cemetery in Moravia.
