A funeral for Stanley Heywood, 65, of Hayes was held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the chapel of Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point. He died Sunday, June 12, 1988, in Walter Reed Memorial Hospital, Gloucester.
Mr. Heywood was a native of Gloucester County and a member of Union Baptist Church, Achilles.
He was a U.S. Army disabled veteran of World War II, having received the Purple Heart Award and the Bronze Star Medal. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Edna S. Heywood; one daughter, Mr. Linda Coates of Hayes; one son, Stanley Heywood, jr. of Hayes; a sister, Mrs. Mildred Kellum of Severn; a brother, Kenneth Heywood of Achilles; and six grandchildren.
The service was conducted by the Rev. James F. Smith, pastor of the Church of God, Perrin. Burial, with military honors, was in Gloucester Point Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Steven Heywood, Douglas Heywood, William P. Kellum, Earl Kellum, Vernon Setterhold, B. L. Walton, Jr., Dennis Walton and Michael Heywood.
