Mrs. Elizabeth Z. Hess of 112 S. W. Fourth Ave., Clearfield, widow of John Hess, died yesterday at the Valley Manor Nursing Home in Coopersburg.
Born in Eldred, Nov. 14, 1897, she was a daughter of George and Alta Mary (Shaeffer) Zerfoss.
A graduate of Randolph Macom College for Women at Leechburg, Va., she was employed by the state employment service until her retirement in 1962. She was a member of the Clearfield Order of the Eastern Star, Susquehanna Chapter, DAR, and a past president of the Clearfield Junior and Senior Woman's Clubs and the Business and Professional Women's Club. She was also a former secretary for the Clearfield Chapter American Red Cross.
Two sisters survive: Mrs. Katherine C. Bentz, Allentown and Miss Charlotte Zerfoss, Wayne.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday from the Nicholson Funeral Home, Clearfield. The Rev. Carl Hill will officiate and interment, at the convenience of the family will be in Crown Crest Memorial Park.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday. The family asks that flowers be omitted and contributions be made to the Clearfield Chapter, American Red Cross.
