Clara E. Bogda, died April 24, 2012, at the Citadel Care Center in Mesa, Ariz.

She was born Oct. 15, 1920, to Magnus and Maybelle Herseth, of Ely and Kabetogama. Clara attended St. Olaf College where she met and married Theodore (Ted) Bogda. They raised a family in Spring Grove, Minn., Ellsworth, Minn., and Chisholm. Clara earned her B.A. from St. Olaf and master's degree from Bemidji State. She taught mathematics in Hibbing. Upon retirement, she and Ted spent summers at their cabin on Lake Kabetogama and winters at Sun Life Resort in Mesa, Ariz. When younger, Clara enjoyed volleyball, bowling, bocce ball, fishing and berry picking. At Sun Life she led water aerobics, played card bingo, instructed crafts and enjoyed walking.

She is survived by sons, Ted (Esther), Gerald (Vicki), Richard (Ann) and Bruce (Naomi); daughter, Sheryl (Daniel) Vertina; six grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Clara was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sisters, Pearl Davis and Katherine Narbo; brother, Thor Herseth; and grandson, Ted Bogda.

Funeral: Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on June 8, at the Lake Kabetogama United Methodist Church.

Burial: Interment will be at Fort Snelling Cemetery.
