Judith Dennison Herring, 62, Hampstead, N.C., died Monday, Dec. 11, 2000, at Cape Fear Memorial Hospital in Wilmington. She had been ill for two years.
Mrs. Herring was born Aug. 25, 1938, in Augusta County, and was a daughter of the late Charles and Juanita Harshbarger Dennison.
She lived her early life in Mount Sidney and lived in Dayton before moving to North Carolina in 1983. She was a member of the auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9983 and Topsail Presbyterian Church in Hampstead.
In 1978, she married Ray Elwood Herring, who died Nov. 9, 1997.
Surviving are five stepchildren; Roger Herring, Rickey Herring, and Marcella Life, all of McGaheysville, Danny Herring, Dayton, and Rita Breeden, Bridgewater; two sisters, Sara Jack, Bluegrass, and Jane Nesselrodt, Mount
Sidney; a brother, Charles W. Dennison II, Mount Sidney; 14 step-grandchildren; and 28 great-stepgrandchildren.
The Rev. Kathleen Overby Webster will conduct the funeral at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Lindsey Funeral Home in Harrisonburg. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 this evening at the funeral home. Friends may also call at the home of her sister, Jane Nesselrodt, 495 Sea Wright Springs Road, Mount Sidney, at any time.
