Christie Jarvis Herrick, 60, passed away October 14, 2004 in Salt Lake City, surrounded by her family, friends and loved ones, following a valiant fight with ovarian cancer. Christie was born November 8, 1943, in Salt Lake City to Ned Thomas and Ruthella Mock Jarvis. She married Gayle H. Herrick for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on July 2, 1965. She graduated from Granger High School and continued her studies at BYU. Prior to marriage she worked at the Church Office Building. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served honorably in many callings including many teaching positions, her favorite being ward librarian. Christie was a beautiful, intelligent, self-assured woman, a loving, kind, supportive wife, mother, grandmother and friend. To know her was to love her. She had a witty sense of humor and loved to laugh. She loved good books, old films and making crafts with her hands to share with others. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, two daughters and two sons; Troy (Arlene) Herrick, Jillene Herrick (Shaun) Cassady, Janalyn Herrick (James) Bramble and Brian Herrick, (Abbi Kimball) eight grandchildren, Meghan, Madison, Andrew, Miranda, Tyler, Austin, Kayla, and Payton, and other extended family. Preceded in death by a brother Ned, and her loving mother and father. We wish to express our appreciation to the Dr.'s and nurses who have helped mom during her illness, with special thanks to Toni and Sharon. Funeral services held Tuesday, October 19, 2004 at the Taylorsville 8th Ward Chapel, 1495 West Tamarack Road (4650 South). Interment in the Valley View Memorial Park.
