West Point - Bert J. Herrick passed away on August 6, 2008.

Bert was born on August 14, 1918 to Warren Bert and Mabel Stella Bailey Herrick.

He grew up in Ogden City where he graduated from Ogden High School in 1936. Shortly after he joined the Army Air Force and served his country during World War II. After returning home he married the love of his life Chloe Webb on October 29, 1945, and they shared their love for 59 years.

She preceded him in death on April 2, 2005.

He worked for Hill Air Force Base until he retired in 1973, and Deseret Gym for another few years after that.

Bert loved his garden and loved to share his beautiful roses with anyone who needed something to brighten their day. He had a love of horses, showing them and sharing his love of riding with his two eldest children.

He took care of his loving wife for many years and never failed to bring her great joy and happiness until her passing.

He was preceded in death by his beautiful wife, and two younger brothers and their wives, Richard Val Herrick (Josephine), and Kenneth E. Herrick (Pat). He is survived by his children and six grandchildren. [names of living relatives redacted for privacy]

Thank you to the staff of Family Tree Assisted Living for their loving care (especially Amanda). Thanks also to Health Watch Hospice and the entire staff for the services given to our father and his many friends and neighbors for all their kindness.

Graveside services will be held Friday, August 15, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Roy City Cemetery, 5200 South 2300 West. Family and friends may gather at Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 S. 1900 W. from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday.
