Herren, Carolyn A. Age 79, of Bristol, IL passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at her home. She was born on February 19, 1935 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Hans and Gertrude (Kalb) Hinsch. Carolyn was united in marriage on August 11, 1956 to Mr. Gene Herren and they spent the next 35 happy years together until his passing on August 20, 1991. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Carolyn was a 1952 graduate of the Carl Schurz High School in Chicago, IL. In 1956 she received a bachelor's degree in Education from Northern Illinois University. Mrs. Herren was a longtime member of the Yorkville Congregational United Church of Christ in Yorkville, IL. Carolyn, along with her husband, owned and operated the Asparagus Crate in Bristol, IL and Herren's Electrical and Plumbing. She was formerly the Bristol Baste & Bake 4-H Leader as well as a member of the Kendall County Farm Bureau and Heifer International. Carolyn was an avid traveler having visited all the continents. Carolyn also enjoyed gardening. She lived her life for her family and they were her proudest accomplishment in life and cherished them unconditionally. She will live on through them and their accomplishments in their lives. Carolyn is survived by her children, Susan Kay Herren of Bellville, IL and her child, Xi Tian, Jennifer Herren-Hamman of Sheridan, IL and her children, Cassidy, Gene, Mitchell, and Jada, and Michael (Kourtney) Herren of Sheridan, IL and their children, Jalyne and Kendall; her sister, Gertrude Hinsch of Thonotosassa, FL; as well as Rodi and Hunter, her beloved canine companions. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at the Yorkville Congregational United Church of Christ, 409 Center Pkwy., Yorkville, IL with Pastor Mark Gregory, officiating. Interment will be private in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Bristol, IL. Friends may visit from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, February 28, 2014 at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home, 410 East Countryside Pkwy., Yorkville, IL.
