Funeral rites for Samuel Herndon, 83, of 339 Guadalupe Street, were held Monday afternoon in the Plummer Funeral Chapels with Elvis Bishop officiating. Interment was in the Center Point Cemetery. He died Friday in the Veteran's Administration Hospital.
Born February 4, 1891 in San Antonio, he had lived here 25 years. He was a retired law enforcement officer and a former Texas Ranger. He was a veteran of World War I and a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
Survivors include his wife; one son Alton M Hurst of San Antonio and two grandchildren.
