Barbara A. Hernandez was born Sept. 3, 1957, and went to be with the Lord Oct. 1, 2015. She is survived by her husband, Louis; children and grandkids. Viewing will be Friday, Oct. 9, 2015, 9 a.m. - 9 p.m. at Mercer-Adams with the family present 6-8 p.m. Services will be Saturday, Oct. 10 at 10 a.m. at Portland Ave. Baptist Church with burial at Sunny Lane Cemetery. Barbara A. Hernandez, 58, went to be with the Lord on October 1, 2015. She was born September 3, 1957 to Roy and Violet (Thomason) Herd. She was the Vice-President of Premium Accounting for 35 years with Globe Life Insurance Co. She married Louis Hernandez, October 4, 1986, in Oklahoma City, OK.

Barbara was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She was much-loved by everyone who knew her. An active member of Portland Avenue Baptist Church, she enjoyed opening her home to her church and work family for food and fellowship. She was known for her cooking skills and loved preparing large holiday meals.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Ronnie. Survivors include her loving husband, Louis; sons, J.D. Hernandez, Michael Hernandez and wife Tram; daughters, Jennifer Hernandez, Sarah Hernandez, and Alicia Hilton; grandchildren, Shaelyn, Samuel, Skye, Jonas, Shane and Riley; and numerous other family members.

The family would like to thank the staff at St. Anthony hospital and especially Dr. Gigi Toma, M.D., who lovingly cared for Barbara.

Viewing will be Friday, October 9, 9am-9pm, with family present from 6-8pm at Mercer-Adams. Services will be Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 10:00am at Portland Avenue Baptist Church with interment in Sunny Lane Cemetery, Del City.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to St. Anthony's Foundation, 601 N.W. 11th St., Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73103, www.givetosaints.com (to be designated to Sisters Fund).
