Elsie Carolyn Harader, 90, of Arkansas City, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday (July 15, 2010). Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Monday (July 19, 2010) at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home of Arkansas City. Burial will follow in the Parker Cemetery. Pastor Mark Fry will officiate.
Elsie was born September 26, 1919, Waltham Township of Kay County, Oklahoma, to isaac L and Carrie I. (Nettlingham) Herbig. She was reared and educated in Oklahoma. She married Donald Charles Harader on October 28, 1940, in Ponca City, Oklahoma. The couple made their home in Arkansas City. Elsie worked as a nurse's aide for Arkansas City Memorial Hospital (SCKRMC) for over 26 years. After her retirement she worked as a volunteer for Cowley County Hospice (Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice). She was a longtime member of the Central Christian Church. Elsie and Don enjoyed traveling, camping and fishing together all over the United States and Canada.
Those left to remember her include her husband of nearly 70 years Don of the home; two sons Walt and his wife Jean Harader of Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, Kenneth and his wife Marilyn Harader of Parkerfield; a daughter Virginia Bohannan and her husband Eldon of Arkansas City; five grandchildren Christi Demaree and her husband Delbert of Winfield, Tiffany Rhodes and her husband Forrest of Eldorado, Kim Finnell and her husband Toby of Manhattan, Ben and his wife Jenn Harader of Pennsylvania, Angela Rocha of Colorado; six great-grandchildren Jennifer and Tyler Demaree, Sydney Morrison, Abbey Finnell, and Meg and Nate Rhodes.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Robert Herbig and an infant sister.
A memorial has been established with the Calvary Chapel - Agape Fruits Ministry. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
Arrangements are being made through the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home of Arkansas City.
