Mrs. Cecil A. (Marilyn F.) Duffy, 73, of 940 Southern Ave., died at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2007, peacefully at home.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Raphael's Cathedral, 231 Bluff St. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at Behr Funeral Home, 1491 Main St., where there will be a parish wake service at 6:30 p.m.
She was born on Aug. 21, 1934, in Dubuque, daughter of Arthur and Theresa (Daack) Herber. Marilyn was a graduate of the Immaculate Conception Academy and the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing.
She married Cecil A. Duffy on Oct. 8, 1955, at Sacred Heart Church in Dubuque.
Marilyn was instrumental in starting the nursing program at ARC, she worked in the nursing pool at Mercy Medical Center for 16 years and was lastly employed for 19 years at ManorCare until her retirement.
Marilyn was an active member of St. Raphael's Cathedral where she served as a eucharistic minister, sacristan and lector. Marilyn and her family also were active in the Renew Program at the Cathedral.
Marilyn formerly enjoyed dancing and going on the houseboat with her family and friends.
Surviving are her husband, Cecil A. Duffy, of Dubuque; four children, Timothy G. Duffy, Steven J. (Lisa) Duffy, Molly A. (Mark) Behnke and Amy J. (James) Peacock, all of Dubuque; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Darlene Frommelt, of Hesperia, Calif., and Caroline (James) Armstrong, of LaHabra, Calif; a brother, Michael Herber, of Bonney Lake, Wash.; a sister-in-law, Armella Herber, of Naperville, Ill.; and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Kathy Duffy on Jan. 19, 1966; a brother, Arthur Herber, Jr.; a sister-in-law, Elaine Herber; and a brother-in-law, Ralph Frommelt.
