Evelyn Lucille Hensley Hardeman, 93, of Florence, passed away Monday, April 7, 2008. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 11, 2008, at Elkins Funeral Home, Florence. The Rev. Rick Owen, the Rev. Jim Webster and the Rev. Paul Owen will officiate. The family will receive friends and family this evening from 6-8 p.m. Interment will be at Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens. Lucille was the 11th of 12 children, born to N.B. and Elizabeth Hensley on Sept. 10, 1914, in Hohenwald, Tenn. She lived in Florence for 90 years. Lucille was a longtime faithful Christian and a member of St. James United Methodist Church and Keenage Sunday School Class, Cypress Chapter No. 195 Order of the Eastern Star and had received her 50-year membership pin. She enjoyed her Bible on tapes in her later years. Lucille loved to fish, crochet and was an excellent cook. Her family always looked forward to her famous chicken 'n' dumplings, Mexican cornbread and pecan pie. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 45 years, Frank Hardeman. Lucille is survived by her son, John Hardeman and wife, Laura, of Florence; and daughter, Ann Sawyer, of Gulf Shores, Ala. She was lovingly called Mamaw by her grandchildren, Elizabeth Beistel and David, Wayne Sawyer, Eric Sawyer and Beckham, Mona Williams and Mark, Leahann Sawyer; great-grandchildren, William Hardeman Brooks, Kellie Williams, Andrew Sawyer, Matthew Sawyer; numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Robert Chard, Tony Chard, Al Chard, Bobby Dolan, Charles Ray Hunt and Hoyt Staggs. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Keenage Sunday School Class. Lucille's family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Webb, Dr. Daughtery and Dr. Patel for their excellent medical expertise and to the staff at Glenwood for their loving kindness and compassion shown to our mother and grandmother. Expressions of sympathy may also be made in loving memory of Lucille to St. James United Methodist Church Pavilion Fund, 1610 Cox Creek Pkwy., Florence, AL 35630. Elkins Funeral Home is assisting the family.
