Mrs. Dean was baptized into the Evangelical United Methodist Church. She had previously worked for G.E. in Waynesboro and was a member of the Shenandoah Moose Lodge 2176 and the Skyline Eagles 4393 in Elkton. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much and taking rides on the Skyline Drive.
Mrs. Dean was born January 21, 1932 in Rockingham County and was the daughter of the late William Edward and Ethel Riddle Hensley.
Her husband, Delmar Dean, preceded her in death in 1979. She is survived by a daughter, Donna Samuels Byrd & husband, Steve, Waynesboro; four grandchildren, Patrick Samuels, Elkton, Teresa Comer & husband, Kirk, Shenandoah, Tonya Hensley & husband, Ron, Massanutten and Nicholas Dean & wife, Kai, Germany; five great-grandchildren; lifetime friends, Peggy Eppard, McGaheysville and Dixie Mowbray, Elkton. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Larry M. Dean.
The Rev. Carter Dean will conduct the funeral service 2:00 Tuesday afternoon, February 7, 2012 at the Kyger Funeral Home Chapel in Elkton. Burial will follow in the Elk Run Cemetery in Elkton.
The family will receive friends (tonight) Monday evening from 6~8 at the funeral home in Elkton. Casket will be closed.
