Mary "Skip" Biswell of Visalia passed away Saturday, Dec. 18, 2004, at the age of 82.
She was born on March 10, 1922, in Pittsburgh, Pa., to Robert and Minnie Henry. She was educated in Pittsburgh, receiving her nursing degree from Mercy School of Nursing. A member of "the greatest Generation," Skip served in the Army Nurse Corps during World War II. She met and married Ross Biswell in 1946, during the occupation of Japan. Returning to the United States, she attended Ventura Junior College and Fresno State College. Skip worked as a school nurse in Ventura before moving to Visalia in 1952. She taught Nurses Aide Classes for College of the Sequoias. Skip was preceded in death by her husband, Ross Biswell, and her son, Eric Biswell.
Survivors include her son, Kevin Biswell of Santa Barbara; a daughter, Kelly Gruner and husband, Jeff Gruner, of Centerville, Ohio; four grandchildren, Erika Gruner, Jay Gruner, Ky Biswell and Kelly Biswell.
Services will be noon Thursday, Dec. 30, at Miller Memorial Chapel, Visalia. Burial will be at Visalia District Cemetery.
