Abilene, Texas - Mrs. Catherine Henry, 73, was a loving mother and grandmother. She was called home February 6, 2008, at Hendrick Medical Center. She was known by her family and friends for her strength and she never met a stranger.

Mrs. Catherine was born February 10, 1934 in Palestine, Texas to Whit Garrett and Alma Foster Garrett. She attended the public school in Palestine, Texas. Mrs. Catherine was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church and she was very devoted and loved singing in the choir. During her years of hard work, Mrs. Catherine was employed at Abilene State School and Mr. Gatti's Pizza for a number of years. She was self-employed for a number of years. Mrs. Catherine loved the Dallas Cowboys.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father; her husband, Frank Henry, Sr.; two sons, Frank Henry, Jr. and Fredrick Henry; one granddaughter, Enitra Stokes; a sister, Martha Reed; and three brothers, Britten Garrett, Mercy Garrett, and Belvie Garrett.

Catherine Henry leaves to cherish her memory, a special friend, Elroy Shead; eight daughters, Betty Stokes of Bayboro, North Carolina, Lois Hamilton of Cedar Hill, Texas, Almose Shead (Larry), Roberta Henry, Twyla Brown (David), Felicia Henry, all of Denton, Texas, Frankie Hutta of Grand Prairie, Texas, and Sonora Henry of Abilene; three sons, Herman Brown (Lisa) of Fort Worth, Texas, Early Ray Brown and Sedrick Henry, both of Denton; three sisters, Mollie Walker (W. C.), Julie Johnson, and Melvina Montgomery, all of Abilene; and two brothers, Gene Garrett and Earl Garrett, both of Abilene; forty grandchildren; forty-five great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be 11 am Wednesday, February 13, 2008, at Galilee Baptist Church with Reverend Eddie Jordan officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory, Abilene, Texas. A wake will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, February 12, 2008, at the funeral home.
