Jacqueline H. Jackie (Henry) Gery, wife of Robert C. Gery of East Greenville, passed away on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 in Shady Grove Adventist Hospital, Rockville, MD. She and her husband celebrated 53 years of marriage in March.
Born Scranton, PA, she was the daughter of the late John L. and Esther (Moore) Henry.
She was a registered nurse and a graduate of Geisinger Nursing School, Jackie spent her entire career in long-term care, becoming a nursing home administrator in the years preceding her retirement in 1996. Upon returning to the East Greenville area, she became a member of a wonderful church family at New Goshenhoppen United Church of Christ, becoming active as a deacon, serving and supporting her church family and community. She also was a member of the Perkiomen Chapter #318, Order of the Eastern Star and the Corinthian Court #35 Order of the Amaranth.
Surviving are her lLoving husband, Bob, a daughter, Judy G. Chambers and husband, Jim of Germantown, MD; a son, Robert B. Gery and wife, Laura J. of Smithsburg, MD and four adored grandchildren, Kim and Ben Chambers and Bobby and Dan Gery. She is predeceased by an infant son, Paul B. Gery.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday at New Goshenhoppen United Church of Christ, 1070 Church Road, East Greenville, PA 18041 with the Rev. Dr. Deborah Rahn Clemens officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery. A viewing will be held 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the Mann-Slonaker Funeral Home, 222 Washington Street, East Greenville and 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the church.
