Margaret Henry Works, 90, passed away peacefully Monday, the 9th of January 2012 in the presence of her niece Dianne Huddle, great niece Kimberly Huddle and great nephew Douglas Huddle. Born on the 18th of September 1921 in Edna, TX and has been longtime resident of Houston.
After a long and fulfilling career, Margaret retired and spent her time following her passions. An avid reader, talented bridge player and amazing gardener, she enjoyed her time with family and friends and volunteering at Unity Church. She was a long time resident at University Place and her family wishes to express their appreciation to those caregivers and friends.
Margaret was predeceased by her husband Madden T. Works; and is survived by numerous nieces and nephews; stepchildren, Madden T. "Pat" Works Jr, and wife, Jan, Judie Ware and husband, Dwight, and their families; sister-in-law, Bonnie Henry; and many long time friends.
Margaret was a high spirited, compassionate, caring and loving woman and will be missed by us all.
Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o'clock in the afternoon to seven o'clock in the evening on Thursday, the 12th of January, in the drawing room of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
A memorial service is to be conducted at two o'clock in the afternoon on Friday, the 13th of January, in the Jasek Chapel of Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive in Houston.
Prior to the memorial service, the family will have gathered for a private interment at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery in Houston.
In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that donations in Margaret's name be directed to the American Cancer Society , 6301 Richmond Ave, Houston, TX, 77257.
