Bettilu Hennessee Tobin, 78, died Monday, Feb. 19, 2007.
Funeral: 11 a.m. Thursday at Fort Worth Presbyterian Church. Burial: Omega City Cemetery in Omega, Ga. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Thompson's Harveson & Cole Funeral Home.
Memorials: Her memory may be honored with a gift to her former minister, the Rev. Dustin Salter, in care of FWPCA, Box 16307, Fort Worth, Texas 76162. The Rev. Salter suffered severe head injuries in an accident in November 2006. He and his family are accumulating enormous medical and living expenses.
Betty was born June 3, 1928, in Omega, Ga. She was a member of Fort Worth Presbyterian Church and an active participant in her neighborhood matters, serving as treasurer for her neighborhood association until her death. She was the one sending out e-mails to as many as 200 members keeping them apprised of what was going on in her area and within the city. She worked tirelessly for the betterment of her neighborhood.
Betty served as a driver and then as an observer for Citizens on Patrol in her neighborhood as long as she could. She and her partner helped the police track down a robber driving away with his "loot" from one of our large stores and received a commendation from the Fort Worth police. She loved her nights on patrol.
Betty was extremely active on line at WebTV and set up her own website to help people with medical problems. She was their trusted confident and greatest encourager when they were down-hearted or in a lot of pain, which Betty understood very well from her own experience. She would spend hours researching for the people on her site, trying to find something that might help.
Survivors: Her son, Thomas Tobin of Florida; daughter, Trish Johnson of Grapevine; and grandsons, James Elliott Tobin and Richard Jones Tobin.
